Paris Market Carrot and similar varieties such as Parisan Carrots, are tiny tasty tidbits. Small Roundish deep orange carrots, slightly larger than a marble. They are relatively rapidly maturing carrots that are prized not only for their culinary versatility, but their adaptability to diverse garden habitats.

Paris Market Carrot is a French Heirloom that can be traced back to the mid 1800s.

It takes 55-60 days to mature . Unlike many carrot cultivars it grows in rocky and clay soils where others fail. A uniform and consistent watering during it active growth period is essential to growing a round and aesthetically appealing crop.

Lack of water or even drought will result in an elongated carrot root with a mediocre to unpalatable woody taste.

These carrots thrive in containers, unlike most other varieties and will also fare well in a hydroponic scenario. It doesn't transplant well - direct seeding is advisable.

Direct Seeding is best, not transplants. Begin Planting seeds in early spring, 2 to 3 weeks before last frost.

Maturity at 55 - 65 days.

Germination - Carrots are notoriously slow germinaters. Anticipate up to 3 weeks. Also anticipate uneven germination over a period of a few weeks.

Spacing - Paris Market carrots should be spaced 2 to 4 inches apart. This is not always possible when planting seed so plan to thin your carrots as they emerge to attain adequate spacing. Allow them to attain a respectable size befor thinning - some of the carrots you've removed should be useable.
