All-America Selections is the oldest, independent impartial plant assessment organization in North America. They test flowers and edible plant via a rigorous process of field testing. All-America National and Regional Selections have been tested for garden performance by a panel of master gardeners and horticulturalists considered expert judges. Varieties that perform best over all of North America become AAS National Winners.
Strawberry Delizz is the only strawberry ever chosen as All-America Selection national winner.
The plants are compact and hardy and produce a deluge of sweet berries on sturdy stems. The strawberries are conical and come in two harvests, the first and largest in spring along with June Bearers and a second late season harvest in August and September. All said an average harvest from a well maintained plant is estimated in the ballpark of 45 berries that are slightly over half an ounce each.
Strawberry Delizz is a DAY-NEUTRAL, meaning that its fruiting is not affected by day length. This is advantageous because it will fruit continuously until fall frost. Other strawberries June-bearers and ever-bearers are affected by day length and stop bearing mid summer.
