The Hillbilly Heirloom Tomato, aka "hillbilly potato leaf tomato", is an heirloom tomato that can be traced to West Virginia dating back to the mid 1800s. It is a ribbed bi-color, yellow and orange red streaked beefsteak style tomato that is sweet and low in acidity.

Mulch is advisable for moisture retention and insect suppression. Although it is touted as being somewhat drought resistant the quantity and quality of the yield is greatly diminished under water stress. What good is a drought resistant plant if it produces unpalatable produce ?
