A fairly new beefsteak style hybrid from Burpee, a cross between Brandywine and Rutgers.
Burpee is marketing it as a 'Supertomato. Superfragrant. Supertasty and Superproductive.' It Truly is a good hybrid tomato, it is fragrant , it is fairly productive - not super productive, just fairly productive, and it is somewhat tasty.
What it also is, is very expensive at nearly $7.00 for a packet of 25 seeds, the germination rate is not super either - of those 25 seeds many will never germinate and of those that do - some will never reach full maturity. So basically from a packet of 25 seeds- anticipate getting 7 or 8 productive plants, which is sufficient for the average home vegetable garden.
Balancing out the pros and cons I would say that Jersey Boy is worthwhile. If you like the acidic taste found in Rutgers - sorry it's just not there with Jersey Boy - however if you like the sweetness of Brandywine you'll like Jersey Boy.
